Edwin Joe Sanders, 65, of Lancaster, CA, died Tuesday March 30, 2010, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born August 12, 1944, in Hallowell, KS, to Edwin and Blanche (Hensel) Sanders. He grew up and attended schools in Oswego, KS. He received his BS in Education from the University of Kansas and MS in counseling from Pittsburg State University.
He married Anne Burgess of Oswego in 1967, and they had one daughter, Cary. They later divorced.
He was a guidance counselor for two years in the Oswego schools. He served four years in the Air Force, after which he remained overseas working for the government as a civilian. Before returning to the United States he lived in England for many years working as a personnel director for an organization called Oxfam.
At the time of his death, he was product manager for Nouvag USA, in Lake Hughes, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fred.
Survivors include a daughter, Cary Allen, her husband, Bill, two granddaughters, Lily and Ida, and two grandsons, Sam and Henry all of Lawrence, KS. Other survivors include three sisters, Jacquie Brown, of Denver, CO, Gerry Stice and her husband, Darrell, of Lawrence, KS, Sandy Crandall and her husband, Paul, of Lake Hughes, CA, and one brother, Larry, and his wife Cindy, of Oswego, KS.
A memorial service is planned at a later date.
